Welcome aboard. I’m Capt. Mike.

I’m 67 years old and have been fishing my entire life. At the age of four, I tied a rock to a rope and

dropped it into a sewer drain, fully expecting to catch a fish. That moment says more about who I am

than any résumé ever could.

Over the years, I’ve fished from Montauk to Maine, across Florida’s east and west coasts, from the

Keys to the Panhandle, spending more than 45 years fishing Florida waters, both fresh and salt. I’ve

logged thousands of hours on the water and bring an experience-driven, patient approach to every trip.

I chose to base GypSea Charters in Citrus County on the Chassahowitzka River because the waters

are beautiful, the fishing is excellent, and the area remains uncrowded. It suits my temperament and

creates the right environment to share the experience calmly and thoughtfully with guests.

I especially enjoy teaching fishing to children, particularly when I have the chance to help them catch

their first fish.

I’m a fisherman and a poet—some days better one than the other.
